My Story

Elena Shaura was born and raised in Russia and is now living and working in

Monaco, Paris and London. She works with a variety of media, including oils and

acrylics, and has recently taken a strong interest in the role of photography in fine

art, as well as blending AI generated material with a more traditionally classical

approach. She is currently in the final stages of publishing a first novel and her latest

art work can be viewed as a parallel rewriting of this in a visual medium.

Elena takes her inspiration mainly from everyday visual experience enriched by

imaginative ideas. Architecture and philosophy are twin guides in this respect, since

she has extensive past experience of working in these areas in academic and legal

fields. For some time, Elena has been exploring the links between the visual

experience of viewing a painting and aural voices behind it which connect a viewer’s

reaction with the artist’s story. ‘Background Voices’ is an ongoing project in which

imaginary conversations form an audio backdrop to each art work and offer the

‘viewer’ the chance to be more than just an observer, but to be part of a

simultaneous audio-visual experience.
